AstraZeneca: Five under investigation in connection with Camilla Canepa's death
Sep 13, 2026
Camilla Canepa, an 18-year-old Ligurian, died on June 10, 2021, after attending an open house event at AstraZeneca in late May. A few days after receiving the COVID-19 vaccine, she felt ill and went to the emergency room in Lavagna. According to investigators, “all the diagnostic tests required by the therapeutic protocol developed by the Liguria region for the treatment of VITT syndrome” (vaccine-induced thrombosis with thrombocytopenia) had not been performed.

If she had been diagnosed in time, it would have been possible to provide the correct treatment and this would most likely have saved her life. This is the hypothesis of the prosecutor’s office. The five suspects are doctors from the local health authority (ASL4): four of them are charged with manslaughter, while all are charged with false information for not indicating in their medical records that they had received the vaccine.
The Genoa prosecutor's office had previously determined that Camilla Canepa "had no pre-existing medical conditions and had not taken any medication" and that her death from thrombosis with thrombocytopenia "could reasonably be attributed to an adverse reaction from the administration of the Covid vaccine." The report had covered Camilla Canepa's case and AstraZeneca's open house events in the fall of 2021 with the articles "AstraZeneca case" and "Astradays". Last February, it returned to the AstraZeneca topic with "The missing vaccine".
