Leading British cardiologist of Indian origin Aseem Malhotra is among a group of international experts who have approached South Africa's High Court for an urgent judicial review of Pfizer's mRNA COVID vaccines, which he says are harmful.

Lawsuit against Pfizer and emergency approval of the mRNA vaccine in the High Court of South Africa
Lawyers representing the human rights group Freedom Alliance of South Africa (FASA) said the lawsuit was filed on Monday in the High Court of South Africa, Gauteng Division, Pretoria, along with an analysis of real-world data linking it to the increase in deaths from both COVID and non-COVID causes among vaccinated people compared to unvaccinated people.

FASA has appealed to the court to review and revoke the approval of Pfizer’s vaccine products, saying the approval was “unlawful.”

If successful, this would result in the COVID mRNA vaccines being withdrawn from the South African market and also have a global impact.

“After a critical review of the literature and the Pfizer study data, the evidence is clear,” Malhotra said.

"For the overwhelming majority of people, Pfizer's COVID mRNA vaccine is significantly more harmful than beneficial and probably should never have been approved for administration to a single person," said Malhotra, who himself has received two doses of the Pfizer vaccine and is now supporting Screen.

"I find it alarming that local regulators are advocating for vaccinating young children under these circumstances. In my opinion, the rollout of the Pfizer vaccines should be halted until there has been a full investigation into how this major error occurred. "This is undoubtedly a responsible and ethical step," the doctor and scientist said.

The FASA case, one of the first of its kind, is being handled by attorney Erin-Dianne Richards, advised by Daniel Eloff of Hurter Spies Incorporated in South Africa, and supported by leading medical and scientific experts from around the world.

Malhotra, one of the supporters, believes the case is " factually, medically and scientifically sound ."

Dr. Herman Edeling, a board-certified neurosurgeon with over 40 years of experience, states in the affidavit that the mRNA vaccine administered in South Africa as Comirnaty " should never have been described as 'safe' and 'effective' ."

“ The applicants in this application are asking Pfizer to explain its conduct; "They call on South African regulators and the government to hold Pfizer accountable and act in the best interests of the South African public, and they humbly ask this honourable court to assist them in enforcing these requirements in the interests of the health of the South African public," Edeling said.
